The Road to Peace...
A documentary about terrorism as defined by 9/11 and al Qaeda... Through the eyes and voices of "experts" , scholars, and those affected by terrorism, Roots explores the events leading up to 9/11, the role bin Laden and radicals play, what their objectives are, and defines Jihaddsim and terrorism today and its impact on the western world. Roots examines the social and political reasons behind most terrorist actions. It looks at the conflicts in the Middle East that have created terrorism and why and by whom the US is "hated".
Shot in Iraq, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Israel- Palestine , Jordan, Lebanon and the United States, the film includes excerpts from over 300 hours of interviews and footage. Opinions and views are expressed by the everyday" man" on the street, students and experts from Hezbollah to spiritual leaders, military , politicians, academics and those who set policy for their countries.
Producer- Director Niki Nicastro McCuistion and her team, Dennis McCuistion, narrator, co-interviewer and Phil Smith, camera- co-editor, look at the situation up close and personal and let the experts and everyday voices speak for themselves.
The Roots of War... the Road to Peace attempts to stimulate thinking by showing diversified perspectives on all sides of the Middle East conflict and the who, what, why of what terrorism is and why we must pave the way to a road to peace. The doc's purpose: to give us a view of how terrorism is compromising our way of life. It takes a complex and difficult subject and reports the facts on the ground with as much balance and objectivity as it is possible to do- considering the subject matter and the polarization, fears and finger pointing terrorism generates.
